Award Winners - French Duncan Chartered Accountants – Kevin Booth, Associate
French
Duncan is one of Scotland’s largest independent firms of Chartered
Accountants, with 14 partners and over 100 staff in offices located
across Scotland. With a wide diversity of clients across various business
sectors, the firm pride themselves in delivering a professional service
where the needs of the customer are key to establishing a successful
long term business relationship. This approach, coupled with having
dedicated, well trained and motivated staff has been fundamental to
the continuing success of French Duncan in an increasingly competitive
sector.
With this in mind, The Partners at French Duncan wanted to identify a management development programme that would not only equip their key staff with the right blend of practical business skills and knowledge but would also motivate and inspire them to bring fresh ideas to the Partners and encourage them to play their part in the firm’s future success.
The Business Map was put to the staff partner for consideration as the route to enable this to happen. An initial meeting led to two senior managers participating in The Business Map, with outstanding results. Kevin Booth and Margaret Sinclair, senior managers with the firm in the Audit and Tax departments, were both eager to develop their business management skills so that they could progress within the company and also help move the firm forward strategically.
“I have not only developed a whole host of
new skills and knowledge that will equip me to improve how I manage
my department and ultimately benefit the firm as a whole, but the
programme has highlighted to me aspects of my personality that I can
work on to achieve even greater success”.
Since attending The Business Map, both Margaret and
Kevin have taken up the position of Associates within French Duncan
and are playing a key role in moving the firm forward. As a direct
result of The Business Map, French Duncan has undertaken
a number of initiatives to maintain their competitiveness and professionalism
including working towards attaining the Investors in People accreditation.
Kevin went on to win the Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence along with
Consultancy and Training for the business worth £3,000.
